What started as a casual morning of photography has evolved into an exploration of the color, texture, and form of discarded industrial relics of the past 400 years. I have intentionally obscured the original use, moving from traditional photographic representations to focus on abstract painterly expressions of the remaining elements. My photographic challenge is to create imagery sufficiently compelling to draw the viewer to explore their inner feelings based upon what they see.
I am an explorer at heart and grounded in the natural world – a phrase I interpret broadly. My imagery is rooted in escapes into the sanity of the natural world to rejuvenate my spirits and keep the difficulties of life in perspective. These escapes fuel my work, drawing on my inquisitive nature and background in the sciences.
