Abstract Wilderness - Intimate Rock Portraits

Complete Portfolio

Abstract Wilderness is an ongoing study of the Bisti Badlands in New Mexico. I love the shapes of the Bisti, and the soul of the diminutive formations found there. Each image is an abstract portrait meant to capture the intimate beauty and uniqueness of the sculptural forms in this rock community. The Bisti is slightly more than 6 square miles, but packs enormous diversity in shape and texture into a small footprint. Individual formations are small, although they may appear immense when seen through the lens of my camera. I am fascinated by this confusion of scale.
