Nos Fuemos

Nos Fuemos – we left, or in birding lingo se fue – the bird flew …. We have our car and headed out of San Jose today.  Sooooo nice to be free.  Back to the lowland jungle on the Caribbean sidd for a bit more time before heading west.  Lunch in a really nice Soda (locals cafe with somewhat set meal and price).  Evidently not frequented by many tourists as they gave us coco – leche bars when we left and clearly the other customers did not get them.  Nice!

It rains at will here, but seems to not last too long most of the time.

Tucked into a little Costa Rican hotel amid the forest – thinned significantly – but still dark in the trees.  On one hand we hear it is the high season, and many hotels appear to be booked solid, but when we show up, they are not full.  Talking to expats they say it is not high season.  is it or isn’t it….?  Does not matter much as long as we find a spot.  It is always interesting working to understand the culture and the undercurrents and there are some interesting ones here.  It is the joy of travel and we know we don’t always get it….. mostly don’t get it if the truth be told.

Now isn’t this a pretty guy!

A bit of bird at a lovely pavilion today and have a guide for….. 5:45 in the morning (my least favorite part of birding.)

Always love the hummers. The Tico’s don’t use feeders, the expats do. An interesting story.
